During this initial call we gather some general information about yourself, your pet (and soon-to-be ESA), and your email address where we will send your invoice. We simply ask your pet's name, breed and sex. We also inquire into the symptoms you experience and how your pet provides relief. If you feel this is a bit personal, or simply want to save that information until you speak to the Doctor, that's completely fine and understandable. Your invoice is a one-time fee of $110 — email addresses are never sold to a third party or kept on a CRM.
We send an invoice to the email address provided to us. We use third-party billing such as PayPal or Zelle if you prefer — we never keep your credit card on file, and no account number or routing number is required. Once the invoice is paid, the doctor will usually give you a call within one hour or at the predetermined time discussed with the front desk. No recurring charges — ever.
Once the payment is received, you can expect a call for a telehealth consultation from your physician within one hour or during the predetermined appointment time. During this conversation you'll share with your physician your history with your pet, your symptoms, and how your pet assists you with those symptoms. During this telehealth ESA consultation, the doctor will determine the medical necessity and whether an ESA is an appropriate treatment for the symptoms you are living with. We are a real medical practice, not a document mill. Every physician on our team puts medical ethics first — they are here to work for you, with you, and guide you through a time in your life where your ESA is your respite and safe place.
After a successful consultation, our staff will draft your personalized ESA letter, signed by a licensed MD on our team. Your letter is delivered via digital delivery in PDF format and will feature the official letterhead of the practice, signed by a licensed physician. The letter includes a statement of medical necessity and the information housing providers typically need. Most patients receive their letter the same day! (California residents with dogs follow a 30-day process required by state law.) At MyESAMD we do not charge expedited fees.
